@GaryNull Oh so angsty. But seriously, a lot of psychiatry is a bunch of garbage, but a lot of it works. You can distinguish what is normal and what is abnormal behavior by studying the population. We’re just animals after all, and animals have normal behavioral patterns that the vast majority of the population exhibits.

In the eyes of drugs companies, they’ll pathologize anything.
These people are sick and dangerous.
People see a commerical for a drug on TV and say “oh, I have that”.
How sick is that. It’s all marketing. Theses assholes are making
billions and billions.
THESE DRUGS ARE DANGEROUS AND HAVE TERRIBLE
SIDE EFFECTS TOO.
There is so much a person can do before even considering
using these worhtless drug.

your attitude towards psychiatry is like that of a scientologist.
i agree that meds are over prescribed.
and you’re right, you may not be able to “objectively” measure behavior like you can with cholesterol levels.
but it is plain to see that some people, albeit intelligent, have a tendency towards mood swings which can be controlled with medication so that they can lead more productive lives.
i am one of those people.

so please stop spreading your anti-psychiatry ignorance.

You people have absolutely no idea what it’s like to have someone you love go through this. My dad was recently diagnosed and it was like turning off a light switch…one day he was himself, and the next he was gone.
